Back to Challenge: Türkiye Bursları Challenge: How the Turkish Government Scholarship Works

Synopsis

A plan for Türkiye Bursları: prepare documents and 12 programme choices before January, apply early, then practise the 30-question 60-minute test and the 15 to 30 minute interview. Last checked 15 October 2026.

The Solution

Türkiye Bursları Solution: Your Plan From Documents to Interview

Last checked: 15 October 2026, against the official Türkiye Scholarships website (calendar, criteria, coverage, application steps and evaluation process). The official calendar lists the general application window as 10 January to 20 February every year. The 2027 announcement had not been published when we checked, so confirm the dates on the official site. Read the Türkiye Bursları challenge page first for the rules and the five judging stages.

What you are preparing for: an online application with up to 12 programme choices, an expert evaluation of your record and goals, a 30-question test in 60 minutes (mathematics, geometry and logic), and a 15 to 30 minute interview on the same day. If you are finishing FSc in 2027, the January 2027 window is your window, and the age limit for undergraduates is under 21.

October and November: check you qualify and gather documents

  • Eligibility. Check your age against the under-21 rule, and your marks against the 70% minimum for bachelor’s degrees (90% for medicine, dentistry and pharmacy). The application asks for a specific transcript, so work out your percentage from the transcript it asks for.
  • Documents. Per the official steps: a valid ID card or passport, a photograph taken within the last year, national exam results if any, your diploma or temporary graduation certificate, and your transcript. If you do not have a passport, start that process now because it takes time.
  • Language and tests. If you want an English-taught programme, find out whether it needs a language certificate such as TOEFL or an exam such as the SAT. See our IELTS and SAT plans.

December: choose your 12 programmes

Use the program search on the official site, which filters by field, level, city and language of instruction. Pick programmes that point in one direction. The committee judges the consistency of your choices, so twelve unrelated fields look like you have no plan. Order them honestly by what you want most, and check for each one the language of instruction and any extra requirements.

Late December and early January: prepare the application

Scan your documents clearly, and write the text parts in a draft before the portal opens. The committee reads your letter of intent for why you chose your field, how you have already acted on that interest, and what you plan to do afterwards. Our advice: write only things that are true and that you can talk about in an interview, be specific about the field and about Türkiye, and avoid copied templates.

10 January to 20 February: apply early

Apply in the first two weeks, not the last. Fill every section, check your details twice, submit, and save the confirmation. The application is free, so never pay an agent. The window closes once a year, so a late application means waiting for the next year, and for undergraduates the age limit may close that door.

March to June: prepare for the test

The test is 30 questions in 60 minutes, which is two minutes each. The official site publishes a mock exam and an answer key. Sit it under exact conditions, check every answer, and then build practice sets from FSc and Matric material: mathematics, geometry and logic puzzles. If you apply in health sciences, science or engineering, practise reading and answering questions in English, because the questions are bilingual and those fields expect enough English to follow them. The questions are written with each country’s curriculum in mind and also with the Turkish curriculum, so look at how the sample questions are phrased.

April to June: prepare for the interview

The official structure is a welcome, a check of your documents, your purpose in applying, your academic knowledge and career goals, and a closing where you can ask questions. If you are invited, bring all the documents and certificates of your latest education. Practise out loud with a friend or a teacher on three questions: why this field, why Türkiye, and what you will do after the degree. Keep your answers short and honest. Our free chapters on effective communication and confidence in communication help here.

August and September: results and the language year

Results are announced in early August, initial procedures follow in August, and awardees travel in September. If you do not hold a C1 Turkish certificate, you begin with the one-year Turkish course and must reach C1 by the end of that year. Your scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, health insurance, a once-off flight ticket and a monthly stipend, so keep the official documents safe.

Keep a Plan B

Competition comes from more than 100 countries, so apply to other routes too. See the LUMS, FAST-NU and HEC Need-Based Scholarship challenges, and keep your FSc marks strong whatever happens.
