Cadet College Admission Solution: A Plan for Families Facing Several Tests
Synopsis
A plan for families facing several cadet college tests: decide on Cadet College Kohat before its 20 October registration deadline, then build one preparation base for the 8 November and 27 December tests. Last checked 16 October 2026.
The Solution
Cadet college admission solution: decide, then prepare once
Last checked: 16 October 2026. Read the cadet college admission challenge first for the side-by-side table. The three confirmed tests have much in common: each covers Maths, English, Urdu and general subjects. One preparation base can serve all of them.
Step 1: age and eligibility (today)
Check your child’s age against each college’s cut-off date. Kohat counts age on 31 March 2027 and accepts students in 7th or 8th, aged 12 to 14. Hasan Abdal counts age on 1 August of the entry year and allows no relaxation. Cross out any college your child cannot apply to.
Step 2: decide on Cadet College Kohat by 17 October
Registration closes on 20 October (challan upload up to 11:59 am) and the test is on 25 October, only nine days away. Apply only if your child is already doing regular practice in Maths, English and Urdu. If not, skip Kohat and aim at the later tests without regret. If you apply, pay the Rs 5,000 challan at an Askari Bank branch, in the parent’s or candidate’s own name as the portal requires, and upload it before the deadline.
Step 3: build one base for all tests (now to 8 November)
Spend about 90 minutes a day on Maths problems, English reading and grammar, Urdu reading and writing, and general knowledge. Check each answer and keep a mistake notebook. Garrison Cadet College Kohat’s test is on 8 November, and its criteria page on gcck.edu.pk lists the exact rules, so read it this week.
Step 4: sharpen for Hasan Abdal (9 November to 27 December)
Switch to full booklet-style papers of three hours, writing in a limited space. Apply to Hasan Abdal by 4 December, with an attested Form B. See the 10-week Hasan Abdal plan for the details.
Step 5: prepare for interviews and fitness (all along)
Hasan Abdal’s interview may include spoken English, IQ and general knowledge, and physical fitness, and other colleges are likely to test similar skills. Practise short conversations in English at home and build daily exercise into the routine.
Step 6: watch for Petaro
Petaro’s prospectus says admissions are normally announced in November or December. Check its portal weekly. If it opens, decide whether a fourth test is realistic.
Common mistakes
Applying to every college without preparing for any. Paying a challan in the wrong name. Mixing up the age rules. Dropping all school work in the last week.

Frequently asked questions about applying to several cadet colleges
Should we apply to all of them?
Only to the ones your child is eligible for and can prepare for properly. A strong result at one is better than a weak attempt at four.
Is it too late for Cadet College Kohat?
Registration closes on 20 October. If your child is already practising and meets the eligibility, you can still apply. If not, the later tests are a better target.
Will preparation for one college help with the others?
Yes. The subject blocks overlap, so one steady base of Maths, English, Urdu and general knowledge serves all of them.
What about fees and aid?
Each college sets its own. Hasan Abdal says aid is limited and not guaranteed, so ask each college directly.
How do we know when Petaro opens?
Check its admissions portal and the national newspapers regularly, because its prospectus says announcements usually come in November or December.
