Subject combinations

  • Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English
  • Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science and English
  • Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and English
  • Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English

Choose the combination that matches your FSc subjects and the programme you want. Prep sites report about 100 questions with roughly 30 each in the three science or maths subjects and 10 in English; confirm the exact paper pattern in UET’s notice.

How merit works

Appearing in the test does not guarantee admission. UET combines your ECAT result with your Matric and FSc marks. A split of 17% Matric, 50% FSc and 33% ECAT is often reported by prep sites, but UET sets the formula for each session, so read the admission notice for your year before you plan your target.

Why ECAT is competitive

  1. It rewards concepts and speed. A computer-based test of about 100 minutes leaves little time per question.
  2. It covers the whole FSc syllabus. Two years of material can be tested.
  3. It is one part of merit. Your FSc and Matric marks count too, so every result matters.
  4. Combinations differ. Your subject combination changes what you need to revise.

Common ECAT preparation mistakes

Starting too late. A weak FSc foundation. Poor time management. Too few timed practice tests. Spending time on rare hard topics instead of core ones. Panicking in the exam. Practise on a computer so the test format feels familiar.
